North-East Engineering Company To Further Establish Presence In International Marketplace

A recently formed North-east manufacturing company will increase its presence within the international marketplace later this week when a core team of staff attend the world’s premier shipbuilding and maritime fair in Germany.

A delegation from Ellon-based LFH Engineering will travel to Hamburg to attend SMM 2010 – the Ship Building, Machinery & Marine Technology international trade fair – from September 7-10 at the Hamburg-Messe conference centre.

LFH Engineering – which specialises in the manufacture of marine diesel engine coolant pumps – was established by local businessman, Les Hill, in April following his purchase of the pump manufacturing division of Peterhead-based Terex Powertrain Ltd, a subsidiary of US-based global manufacturing firm, Terex Corporation.

Mr Hill will be accompanied to the SMM trade fair by a team from LFH including Neil McArthur (Chairman), Kathleen Singleton (Sales & Marketing Manager) & Gordon Bott (Design Engineer).

Managing Director, Mr Hill, considers LFH Engineering’s attendance at the event to be key to further establishing the company on the world stage.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for us to introduce LFH as an exciting new company in the international marketplace that, despite its young age, is able to capitalise on the rich combined experience of our team within the marine technology manufacturing sector.

“Our main objectives at the conference are to see as much as we can, get a feel for how other businesses are performing now that the industry is emerging from the recession, source potential customers and meet some of our existing clients face to face.”

SMM 2010 looks set to maintain the annual conference’s position as the world’s leading platform for suppliers to the industry to network with key decision makers and to present products and services to key purchasers. Its ‘booked-out’ status is heralded as a confident indicator of the industry’s emergence from the recent global economic recession.

Situated near the banks of the river Elbe, the 90,000 square metre conference hall will play host to over 2,000 exhibitors from 50 countries, and will be visited by in excess of 50,000 trade delegates. Product categories and industry sub sectors represented include marine technology and services, electrical engineering, ship operation equipment and shipbuilding.
